Guitar Chord Poster
Can anyone tell me more about guitar chords?
I played guitar on and off for about 6 years. I have a poster chords the guitar in my room and I'm a little confused about some of the chords. I can play all fine, but do not understand the names of some of them. I know "D" is "important D," DM "is" D minor, "DDim" is "D diminished" and that have the little symbol of flat notes. I do not understand those who have the number of them, like "D7", "D6" and "D9". What do these numbers mean? And also, with the "+" after them, what does that mean?
Just think of them as colors or flavors. The "official" response is that when you have a series of chords over six months without a major or minor is a "dominant" chord. Examples of dominant chords D7, D9, D11, D13. 6 after the name of note is a special case called the sixth string. " Example, D6, A6, E6. You can add other notes of a dominant chord to what is called a disturbance dominant "." Example A7b13, A7 + The first thing in the string name is the name of the note the string is based on, called the tonic. A note from the root may be sharp (#), flat (b) or natural (no extra symbol) Examples: F #, Ab, or D natural. The symbol + indicates an "augmented" chord. Again, this is just another color or taste. Formally, an augmented-chord is a major chord whose fifth is sharp: eg increased C consists of the notes C, E and G # Each line is one of the following basic tastes: major, minor, augmented or diminished. Everything else is just gravy.
