I just bought what was listed as a “1998 Fender Stratocaster 1960 re-issue”. When I got it, it was in pretty good shape and everything seemed fine. But as I was looking on Fender’s web site, i noticed that serial numbers with MN8 plus 5 more digits are from 1998 but my serial number has MN8 plus 6 more digits. This is my first time owning a Fender and I just want to be sure everything is 100% authentic. On my stratocaster, it says “made in mexico” and on the front of the headboard, there’s the fender brand name, “STRATOCASTER”, and “original contour body”.
If any one knows anything about how to tell a fender stratocaster (a real one) apart from a fake, could you please help me? I hope this purchase was a good one – and I hope I didn’t spend everything on something fake.
I know that Fender makes Strats in mexico, I own one. They are less expensive, and the American made ones are better than the Mexico ones, but they’re still both very good quality instruments. I would probably call Fender and give them the serial number and they could probably check to see if it’s real or not.

Just wind the peg until the string becomes slack and pull it through the tuning peg.
When putting in the replacement make sure the gold stopper end of the string goes through the bridge and out of the back to secure it then run the thinnest end through the tuning peg and coil up the slack so it doesn’t fly out. Then wind the peg until you have it tuned at E or whatever pitch you want.

If it was American made, say American series. Which typically runs about $ 900 or more, but we are talking about is actually in Mexico. It is electric, possibly vintage, it looks like a fender stratocaster, but there is no word fender on it anywhere, It has a plate on the back with serial # 099629. On the top of the neck, it says series 70 or series 7?

If you have the time. Try taking the neck off the guitar and seeing if there is any id in the neck pocket or on the neck.

I play a Squire Telecaster (my first electric guitar), and I definitely think it's time for a new guitar. My main problems are extremely high, slow action, horrible tone, the pads (little sense of impact and hammer-ons and pull-offs), and for the setup (just stays in tune long enough for me to play a song). In considering the possibilities of a new guitar, I found that the Fender Stratocaster and Epiphone Les Paul seem to be the highest quality guitars in my price range. In a new guitar, I'm looking for something that will give me: 1. An all-around great sound. If I'm playing clean or with heavy distortion, I want a good tone. 2. Versatility. What I'll be playing hard rock / metal, but I want a guitar that can reach a goal of superior sound and softer tones and shades of blues, etc 3. The ease of play. It is preferable that the strings to be low for the pitch and easy to bend / Slide. Between the two guitars, which fills the above conditions better?
The Fender Stratocaster is definitely the best of those two. All Epiphone Les Paul I've played feel like toys. There are much better than the Squier Strats. If it is a Gibson Les Paul, which would be one more game. The truth is that the tone of the metal is easy to achieve with the right amplifiers. However, to achieve good dynamic tone a Fender Stratocaster blues definitely more suited to your style of an Epiphone. Reasons why: The scale length is larger, ie more tension on the strings and therefore more power in turns and the intensity of the lower notes. The wood and the body are lighter, and wood to give more of a deep and blues. They have five different collection selection and two tone knobs, which give a variety of possible tones that can be achieved. for comparison, only three positions Epiphone collection. In general, Fender instruments over Epiphone high quality. Gibson Epiphone Fender Squier is what is a smaller company that makes all their instruments for beginners at cheaper prices.
